Laura Duval

Laura Duval is a Producer, Director, and Cinematographer who has been working in the film industry since 2009.  Laura grew up singing polish songs and cooking traditional polish dishes in the kitchen with her grandmother (from her mother’s side) and hearing adventurous bedtime stories from her dad about the family’s French, Irish, and Cherokee heritage. Given her background in studying Political Theory and American Politics, Laura mostly focuses on films dealing with social justice and cultural issues.  A graduate of The University of New Orleans with a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production, Laura brings a level of expertise to her projects that is second to none.  She currently has three full length feature films she has recently directed in post-production, Tad Caldwell and the Monster Kid; Bad Habit; and Gesundheit! Vs Capitalism: The Real Patch Adams Story. 

 

Laura’s true passion is “painting with light.” Her camera work can be seen in such films as Stand On It, and Poker Run, in addition to several documentaries including Through the Veil: Ghosts of Fort Jackson, directed by Todd Schmidt, and Twin Stories, produced by Diana Bolston. Laura also has years of experience in commercial work and camera operating for the news stations WDSU and WLFT.  She is also a member of the Art Directors Guild (ADG), IATSE local 800, as a Production Designer.

 

In addition to her filmmaking accolades, she also spends time teaching at the prestigious Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where she teaches the art and business of filmmaking from narrative and documentary aspects.
